The Endymion Citadel The foremost city of magic and sorcery in the Duel World, and a proverbial mecca to spellcasters around. The city prides itself on being the origin of many powerful magicians, and many come seeking to learn its secrets. The city is built around the prestigious Endymion Academy, which also doubles as the city's seat of government. Many of its businesses are tailored towards assisting and serving the student body and the magical upper class. Powerful defensive enchantments surround the city, providing the city with protection. The Endymion Citadel sees itself as the foremost authority on magic, and thus believe all spellcasters should be under its control. As such, those that do not conform to Endymion's standards are often treated with contempt and scorn. Population A large city in its own right, Endymion boasts a population of roughly 150,000 people. While mostly Humanoid, any intelligent being with magical potential is welcome. Non magical folks do have their place in the city, but are often treated as a lower class, often expected to serve. Government The Citadel is ruled over by Endymion, the Master Magician, and his wife, the queen Selene. A firm, prideful, and forceful ruler, Endymion seeks to control all magic in the Duel World, if only to prevent it from being misused. The teachers of Endymion Academy act as advisors, but ultimately defer to Endymion's judgement. Factions & Organizations Endymion Academy The very core of the city, and the Birthplace of many prominent sorcerers and magicians. The Academy takes in all promising students, teaching them the ways of Endymion and to improve their magic. However, the academy also acts as a government institute, and as such many outsiders see it as indoctrinating their students, rather than teaching. The Seekers The secret enforcers of Endymion's will. They are often sent out to scout potential spellcasters and to bring the back for teaching (sometimes against their will). There are times though when they are sent out on equally 8mportant missions. All Seekers are highly proficient in magic. Relations The Citadel holds a small rivalry with Stromberg, both toting themselves as the greatest city in the Duel World. Fortunately, there's enough of a respect for eachother that the two coming to blows seems highly unlikely. Endymion Citadel has a tendency to look down on other magical communities, seeing them as quaint at best. In regards to the Hidden Village, which was made up of deserters from the Citadel, many of the advising body would love to see it annexed back into the fold, seeing them as a threat. Though for whatever reason, Endymion has not acted on this yet. There is a bitter rivalry between the Citadel and Gear Town, with their devotion to magic clashing with their dedication to tech. It got to the point where sorcerers and machinists from both sides split off, creating Thunder City. This at least gave the two cities a common rival, especially when Thunder City's pride started going to its head. They hold some respect for the Sanctuary and Valhalla, though their powerful magic often sometimes causes them to consider themselves on their level or greater. Like the rest of the Duel World, they are wary of Dark World, but are intrigued by its dark and necromantic magics. Prospective scholars from the city try to study these magics, though they make it a point to keep this fact secret. While Endymion cares little for Dark City (often seeing it as too close to Gear Town), they are intrigued by the cosmic mysteries of A Space. Though they have learned to be wary of the horrors in the cold reaches. The Citadel once attempted to study Toon World, but a series of incidences quickly taught them that whatever knowledge they could gleam was hardly worth the hassle, only leaving it to their most skilled academics. |
