The Crimson Court A blanket of thick mist rests upon the graven earth. From its barren, spindly trees, to the oppressive lamp lit streets, there is an over powering sense of lifelessness, as if the land is one gigantic graveyard. These are the lands of the Crimson Court, the land of the undead. Curiously enough, despite it being a land of undead, the area is less graveyards and tombs, and more resembles a dark victorian city. Cobblestone streets, oillamp street lamps, and crowded buildings. The various undead (at least those that are intelligent), and can actually lead a comfortable existence. And atop the hill, the large manor of the vampiric royal family sits. Much like its rival Pandemonium, the Crimson Court too has eyes on the Duel World, even having access to a gateway to the land of the living. Though years of being thwarted by the Gravekeepers have caused them to develop a new tactic. Simply wait. For as time marches on, and the living pass from this world, the armies of the dead will continue to grow. It's only a matter of time. Population It's hard to nail down just how many live within these lands, as the number of undead is always on the rise. Though it was last estimated to be roughly 280,000. Most of the inhabitants are undead, but there have been some mortals who have come, interested in the dark arts of necromancy. Government The Crimson Court is currently ruled by an aristocratic family of vampires, dwelling atop a hill in a massive estate overlooking their domain. Despite their hedonistic tendencies, they have shown time and time again to be shrewd, calculating, and formidable rulers. Factions & Organizations The Dark Library The Crimson Court's (and by extension the Duel World's) foremost school of necromancy and dead reanimated. Though based on a combination of magic and science, they are purely focused on raising more and more of the dead. The royal vampires happily fund the Library, in exchange for them bringing new souls to their realm. The Shiranui Not all undead are monsters, as the vampires discovered with the arrival of the Shiranui. A clan of samurai in life, they retain their honor and determination in death, and are staunchly opposed to the vampires' goals for conquest. With the assistance of like minded humans they bonded with hosts, they tirelessly work to undermine their undead foes. They have even recently made an alliance with the Vampire Hunter, the vampires' oldest and most persistent foe. This has left them wanted criminals within these lands, not that they mind.. Relations The Crimson Court sees its neighbour of Pandemonium as rivals for the fate of the Duel World. Both seek to conquer and rule it, each taking different approaches to accomplishing it. That being said, they are not opposed to working together if the need arises. Though they have no love for the living, nobody has earned the Court's hatred more than the people of the Necrovalley. For generations the Gravekeepers thwarted their attempts to cross in the land of the living, forcing thrm to adopt their waiting tactic. When the time comes, the vampires want to see the Necrovalley utterly destroyed. For the most part, the Outer Worlds hold very little interest to the Crimson Court. That is, until they learned about Vendread Virus, which once wrecked havoc on Dark City. Many of the Crimson Court's scholars are now very, VERY interested in getting their hands on it. |
