Dark City A bustling metropolis of concrete and steel skyscrapers, the outer world known simply as Dark City is shown to be just that. A massive city, absolutely jammed with people and technology most of the Duel World has never seen. Curiously, Dueling existed long before the connection between the Duel World and Dark City was established, but it was more or less just a card game for entertainment. It was only after the connection was formed that real Duelists started appearing in Dark City, along with powerful entities in Dark City being able to be summoned. One of the many great mysteries of the Outer Worlds that scholars are curious to study. Dark City is, by far, the Outer World with the strongest connection to the Duel World. Inhabitants on both sides are drawn to eachother, with visitors to either side crossing over to the other. It's gotten to the point where Dark City can almost be considered a part of the Duel World itself, rather than just an Outer World. Population Dark City, by far, is the most densely populated location in the Duel World, or the Outer Worlds, boasting a population of 360,000 people. Most of these are human, though a minority of non humans have immigrated from the Duel World. Government Dark City's current mayor is a woman known as Cassida Myers. A cool, calculating woman who looks out for the best for her city. Little do people know, she also secretly runs the organization SPYRAL under the code name Master Plan. Factions & Organizations HERO A blanket term for the various costumed heroes that fight crime within Dark City. HERO isn't so much a single organization, but several sub factions. Elemental, Destiny, Dark, Vision, etc. Each with their own methods and goals. And their heroics encourage new heroes every day. SPYRAL Not all heroes wear capes. Some wear suits and utilize gadgets. SPYRAL is a secret intelligence agency, led in secret by the mayor herself. Utilizing advanced technology, gadgets and weaponry, the agents of SPYRAL are sent on secret mission to thwart threats to Dark City, and even recently to the Duel World. Ultra Atheletes Sporting legends within Dark City. These athletes throw everything they have into competition, taking part in high speed, high power sporting events, all for the entertainment of the people. Many children dream of joining the Ultra Atheletes someday, though joining their ranks is hardly easy. Relations Dark City by far, out of all the Outer Worlds, has the best relationship with the rest of the Duel World. Many look upon the magical world with awe and wonder, while the people of the Duel World see Dark City as wonderful in their own right. Gear Town particularly is drawn to their technology, while many in Dark City are drawn to Endymion's magic. Predictably, their relationship with Dark World is less positive. They are wary of the fiends of Pandemonium, and show outright fear of the undead of the Crimson Court. Especially after the Vendread incident, when a horrible virus caused a zombie outbreak in the city, though the Crimson Court had nothing to do with that. The only exception is Darkland, which has caught the people's curiosity. While some of the people are curious of the cosmic wonders of A Space, many folks figure it'sbest to leave it alone. Curiously, Dark City has the best relationship with Toon World, if only because the people of Dark City (particularly its youth), understand just how toons are. |
