| | The Duel World The Duel World
A world of warriors and monsters, of wonderous magic and devious traps, a world of heroes and villains. And yet, in the true power of this world lies not with these beings of myth and legend, but with others. People capable of harnessing these powers, and summon these entities to their aid.
These people are known as Duelists.
Upon completing their trial, these people gain the power of a Deck Master, and are able to tap into the true power of this world. Able to wield powerful spells, set cunning traps, and summon forth powerful monsters, they use this power against the challenges of the world, and even engage eachother in competitions of strategy and power.
What these Duelists do with their power is up to them. Some seek adventure and heroics, others seek power for themselves. Some even explore the depths of this world, and the power they have been granted. The sky and beyond is the limit to these people.
Pray tell, what would you do with such power?

| | Duelists Duelists are individuals who have somehow unlocked the potential to tap into the true, magical power of the Duel World, enabling them to summon forth entities and cast spells. They do this through using sets of cards (which act as ordinary cards to everyone else, inconjuncture with the use of a personalized artifact known as a Duel Disk.
One is not born a Duelist, but rather becomes one, through completing an event known as a Duel Trial, I which case their power is granted, and they are given their Duel Disk. It's uncertain just what sort of power grants this, as even now scholars are uncertain. Duelists do comment on hearing a voice speak to then, but accounts differ, making it hard to tell if it is a single power, or multiple.
Due to the power Duelists possess, they are often the focus of attention to the higher authorities. Many would try to employ Duelists, while are others are simply content to keep an eye on them, just in case.
NOTE: As the creatures of Yu-Gi-Oh exist in this world, it is not unheard of that many of them can be duelists themselves. However, such characters are limited to NPCs only.Duel Trials All Duelists have this in common. The completion of a Duel Trial. A task granted to thrm by an unseen power, in order to unlock their abilities. These trials vary from person to person, so it's often difficult to prepare for one.
The people have learned how to induce a Duel Trial for a candidate, usually through a ceramony or ritual. Though there have been the odd occasion where no such Duel Trial occurs (often to much embarrassment), the current practices seem to work, though nobody can really explain how.
There have also been incidents of a Duel Trial occurring completely out of the blue. These "Wild" Duel Trials act basically the same as a formal trial. Completion grants the prospective duelist their Duel Disk (which materializes on their arm), and the powers of a Duelist.
So far there have been no records of anyone attempting a second Duel Trial after failing one, leading many to believe it's a one time thing only.Duel Disks A curious artifact, granted to a Duelist after they complete their trial, and worn on their arm. Each Duel Disk is tied to their respective Duelist. If used by anyone else, the Duel Disk is useless.
However, this hasn't stopped places from recreating a facsimile of a Duel Disk, either through technology or magic. These False Duel Disks (or F Duel Disk, as they are known), tend to use holograms or illusions, instead of outright summoning the monsters like a true Duel Disk. Also, F Duel Disks only work in proper duels, while a true Duel Disk can use their capabilities outside of duels.
Curiously enough, an F Duel Disk can be used in a duel against a true Duel Disk and vice versa.
Due to the technology and magic needed to create an F Duel Disk however, they are not common, and tend to wind up in the hands of the wealthy.

| | Technology In a 2orld of sorcery and machines, of men, monsters and spirits, technology has an interesting way of developing, depending on the different locations.
Gear Town, Thunder City and A Space have high levels of technology, with Gear Town being more industrial, and A Space leaning heavily in sci-fi. Meanwhile, Endymion is heavily reliant on magic, basing their technology around it, as do the archfiends of Pandamonium. These five areas would be the most 'advanced' technology wise
Dark City would be akin to a modern Earth city, while Dark Land is comparable to a modern day theme park.
Stromberg's level of technology would be akin to fantasy steampunk, with machinery, and some usage of magic due to their closest to Endymion. The Crimson Court are on a similar level of technology while Atlantis, the Sky Sanctuary, the White Capital and Valhalla more rely on magic than technology, but are on a similar level of advancement.
Other locations are on the lower side of things. The Hidden Village and the Harpy's Village can be considered lesser towns compared to Endymion and Stromberg respectively. The Floating Village, being an isolated pirate and trade port, is a cobbled together mess of whatever technology they can get their hands on. Finally, the residents of the Necrovalley, steeped in tradition, tend to rely on very little technology, often using a little magic, but not much else.
Toon World is an oddity all to itself. Its level of technology varies wildly, ranging from simple clubs to lasers. Scholars studying Toon World have come to the conclusion that their world works on the "rule of funny" and allows them to pop out what they need. Most people have given up trying to understand them, and the Toons don't mind one bit.
There are some occasions of overlap in technologies, due to these different areas sharing the same world (A Space, Dark City and Toon World being the exception), though not enough to overall change an area's technological standing.Transportation Travelling from one area of the Duel World to another is usually a simple affair. Vehicles, mounts, even magical portals can be used to get around. Though areas like the Heavens, Atlantis and the Depths would need something that can fly or go in deep water respectively.
Dark World is an interesting case, as it was long believed only arcane portals allowed travel to it. However, an old mining operation in the Mythic Forest once dug down so deep that they somehow ended up in Dark World. However, the fact that Dark World has its own sky muddied whether it is truly underground or not. The shaft, now known as the Nether Elevator, still exists. It is also said another entrance to Dark World lies in the Necrovalley, guarded by the gravekeepers.
The Outer Worlds are another matter entirely. Being seperate pocket dimensions, they are only accessible via portal. Stromberg, Endymion, Gear Town and Thunder City all have hubs that allow travel to these worlds, though there are means to travel to them outside of these areas. Likewise, each of the Outer Worlds have means to travel to the Duel World as well.
NOTE: Though so far only A Space. Dark City and Toon World are listed, other Outer Worlds can exist. If demand or traffic is high enough, additional boards can be added.
